I have almost no experience driving in the snow since I grew up in Hong Kong and since I moved back the States, most of the people I know just aren't comfortable with me in the driver's seat at the first hint of snow. I keep telling them that I need to learn, and that I can't learn if they never teach me. A backseat driver does not learn how to drive!
So now I live in SLC by myself. There are no other drivers. I really want to go to church tomorrow, especially since it's Christmas and I love singing Christmas carols. Seriously, I start listening to all-Christmas music, all the time on the radio in the beginning of November! Yes, I am one of those people.
So I guess I'll have to start learning how to drive in the snow. I can't stay in my apartment all winter.

My suggestion to you: find an empty, snowy parking lot, and spend some time making donuts and sliding around. Practice steering into slides, and that sort of thing. A little bit of that will teach you how your car acts in snow, give you practice at how to recover from unplanned situations, and seriously boost your confidence. Plus, it's a ton of fun! Just be sure not to ram into any hidden curbs...

Do it! Just make sure the parking lot you pick doesn't have TOO much snow. Last year I got called to help out a friend playing a parking lot who got unexpectedly stuck. Digging him out of the snow was no fun.
